Day 2: Things are heating up

Today we started off with a 30 min run, just a little something to get the legs fired up for our big journey. After breakfast we saddled up our bikes and headed off to the pool. Our plan was to bike about 25 miles then swim 5k, and then bike home. Sounds easy right..... Neil and I starting the ride....

Then Neil had to take the lead and I just tried to hang on (or so he thinks!)

Google maps let us down big time because we never found the illusive Whitney Ranch Pool. After circling around in some not-so-nice neighborhoods we stopped and asked someone where the pool was. He instead told us that we were a long way from the pool, and we should just swim at the pool up the road. Call it serendipity but things worked out perfectly since this was by far the nicest pool I have ever swam in. For 2$ we were able to swim in a 14-lane 12ft deep massive saline lagoon. Okay all kidding aside we had work to do, and 5k in the pool later we were ready for our bike home.

I think Neil is a little spent after that workout (2x300, 4x25 fast)x4

Before we head back Neil decides to get some sun and eat....

(I think he unzipped his jersey for the pic!!)

We decided to stop at this bakery for a snack and some much needed sugar. In hopes of getting some awesome scone, cookie, etc. we end up with this lackluster chocolate french scone thing. Basically not worth the money or calories but it was nice to sit for a moment.

Check out these two white boys and their sweet tan lines! You bet by the end of the week we will be bronzed and fit. Or at least one of the two, time will tell!

Until tomorrow.....
