Boulder City Triathon Camp

Neil and I decided to make our way down to Boulder City, Nevada for a week of training in the sun. After a "quick" 11 hour drive south from Boise we were greeted with 25 mph winds and 40 degree temps. We Checked into our super fancy accomadations at the Hacienda for 19.70 a night! Believe me in this case you get what you pay for, although the room does have two beds, so far the absence of bed bugs has proved to be a real bargain. Since the morning brought cold temps we decided to recon the motel, excuse me hotel property. Hiking around the massive rock croppings where you can see for miles passed the time until the weather warmed up.

Training started with a solid 6k in the pool. The pool is covered with a bubble and was like a jungle inside. You know that feeling when you go to the dentist and they dry off your teeth with cotton balls, that is what my mouth felt like for 90 minutes. No complaints though because we did have the pool to ourselves.
After lunch and a nap we went for a 45 min run on the old railroad tracks that has been converted to a great running trail. The temperature was about 60 degrees, and coming from a cold winter in boise it sure felt good!

There are several of these tunnels leading to Hoover Dam

P.S. Do not leave babies unattended at the Hacienda parking lot

Then we cleaned up and head to town, boulder city. The brewery had a pretty solid IPA on tap that made for a great end to the first day. 6 more days left!

Night Cap at the Boulder Dam brewing Co.

Until tomorrow.....
